Fewer are acquainted with its off-shore cousin.\u00a0 The ocean makes up 73% of the earth\u2019s surface, hence off-shore wind energy potential is enormous\u2014several times again the energy requirement of the entire world.\u00a0 A wind farm is unobtrusive, assuming placement of turbines 10 or 100 miles from shore. One wind farm complex alone\u2014comprised of 250 or 300 wind turbines\u2014can produce as much electricity as is produced annually in a nuclear power plant. Off-shore wind energy is clean and renewable.\u00a0 If implemented on a large scale, it alone could fulfill 100% of the energy requirement of the United States.<\/p>\n<p>(Wind Farm)<\/p>\n<p><em>What will this look like<\/em>?\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 If wind turbines\u00a0 are placed 2-3 miles offshore, they would still be very visible because of  their size.\u00a0 The picture below is of the UK&#8217;s largest offshore wind farm at  Scroby Sands, generating power for as many as 41,000 homes.<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 520px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pugetsoundtidalpower.com\/images\/Waves.1.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Example Wind Farm\" src=\"http:\/\/www.pugetsoundtidalpower.com\/images\/Waves.1.jpg\" alt=\"Example Wind Farm\" width=\"510\" height=\"340\" \/><\/a><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Example Wind Farm<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Alternatively, turbines placed further out to sea would perfrom as effectively, while protecting the valuable appearance from out beloved coastlines.<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 200px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Wind_power\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/pandemiclabs.com\/pandemicblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/06\/wikipedia-logo.jpg\" alt=\"Wikipedia: Biomass\" width=\"190\" height=\"228\" \/><\/a><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Wikipedia: Wind Power<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Most Americans are familiar with the land-based wind energy turbine.
